When MTD for VAT launched, HMRC allowed a period of adjustment for businesses. The soft-landing period initially ran until April 2020 to provide flexibility while businesses put their MTD for VAT solution in place.
During the Coronavirus pandemic, HMRC announced an extension of the soft-landing period. It will now end on 31st March 2021.
Please note that this is at HMRC’s discretion, so it’s best to get started with MTD for VAT as soon as possible.
