BTCSoftware at IFA events in Yorkshire
This week BTCSoftware were in Yorkshire with the IFA this November covering both Rotherham and the Huddersfield conferences this November in 2018.
Opening the even was John Edwards, CEO of IFA.
John Edwards is an experienced Chief Executive Officer with a demonstrated history of working in the accounting industry. Skilled in Budgeting, Business Planning, Managerial Finance, Strategic Planning, and Accounting. Strong business development professional. John is a Fellow member of the Institute of Financial Accountants and the Institute of Public Accountants of Australia.
There was much talk about Making Tax Digital for Business (MTD) and Where HMRC are up to regarding the timeline. Michael Cameron, HMRC was on hand to inform and discuss with the group at the conference.
Michael has worked for HMRC for over 30 years. He has worked on various programmes such as the introduction of Self-Assessment, managing the transition to the year 2000 (I2K) and the Carter Programme (SA Online Filing and VAT Online Filing). Michael is now in an HMRC Transformation role and is working with a wide range of business customers to explain HMRC’s digital plans. He is currently responsible for HMRC’s strategy to encourage volunteers to join Making Tax Digital pilots.
Both events were mainly based around the final countdown to Making Tax Digital for VAT (MTD) legislation date and how to prepare for it.
The talk covered the following
- What MTD is and why IFA members must act now
- Practical tips on what IFA members need to consider and do now
- What solutions are out there, like BTCHub and what’s to available to you? Live demonstration to show how straightforward the process can be
- Discuss IFA Books+ and how it is available as an option for you
Gain a good understanding of MTD now draft legislation has been produced by HMRC, leave the session with practical tips on what needs to be done to be MTD ready, see a demonstration of preparing a VAT return and how it is then submitted to HMRC.
There were a variety of exhibitors at both events. BTCSoftware enjoyed the live demonstrations and hoped that everyone else also did!
