Everyone in the BTCSoftware team would like to wish Vicky Johnston, our Customer Manager, and Martin Banks, one of our Solution Developers, the best of luck in The Colour Run.
This takes place in London on 12 June and is a 5km run with a bit of a difference. Participants start the day in a white t-shirt and get covered from head to toe in a rainbow of colours at each kilometre of the course.
Vicky, Martin & friends are running the race to raise money for Woking Street Angels. This is one of BTCSoftware’s chosen charities and our CEO, Rob Ellis, is one of their volunteers.
The Street Angels’ volunteers offer care and support to those affected by homelessness, intoxication, drug abuse, assault or any other issue which has caused personal distress or the potential for physical harm. Street Angels help people whoever they are and whatever their situation, for example by listening, simple acts of generosity, caring, offering practical help or by referring people to other (specialist) agencies who can help them.
They make a really positive impact on crime and antisocial behaviour in town centres, particularly in the vicinity of bars and clubs, by providing a calming presence on the streets late at night.
As running novices, Vicky and Martin, have been preparing hard for The Colour Run. Vicky has been using an app called ‘Couch to 5k’ to help boost her fitness and Martin is currently training 3 times a week. He’s already up to running 1.8miles in 15minutes.
We wish Vicky and Martin all the very best in their training and preparations and are really looking forward to hearing how they get on in this colourful event.
