It was quite a dramatic week last week for Accountants and Tax Software providers alike, following on from the Chancellor’s announcement about planned changes to Self-Assessment returns. It would appear the proposed changes have caught everyone by surprise.
This will obviously bring about major changes to the accountancy profession but we see this as an opportunity to embrace and not a dead end. Rob Ellis, our CEO, told AccountingWeb that “I see the introduction of Digital Tax Accounts as a real opportunity to improve the lives of Tax Agents provided HMRC supply the correct tools for the software providers to use. I have already been in touch with the HMRC Software Developers Support Team to express that BTCSoftware will be early adopters of the new technology and we are happy to assist with this change in any way we can. As I see it, this proactive approach is the only way to continue to deliver quality solutions to our growing client base.”
