Congratulations to our co-founders Rob Ellis, Ian Katté and their friend Jonathan Fudge for completing the Ride London 100 in just 6 hours despite truly atrocious weather and a huge wait in Richmond park whilst emergency services tended to a bad accident, and a puncture between Newlands Corner and Dorking which was a real blow to their rapid progress!

Ride London 100 is a 100 mile cycle ride which started at 6 am on Sunday August 10th at the Olympic Park and ended on The Mall. The route  would have taken them out of London to Byfleet & West Byfleet and then over Newlands Corner through Abinger Hammer and Holmbury St Mary before tackling the biggest ascent on the route at Leith Hill. After Leith Hill the route was due to head to Dorking and up Box Hill (another challenging climb) before heading back to London. Unfortunately the organisers took the decision very early to remove Leith Hill and Box Hill from the course. We believe they feared the descents would be too dangerous, and given the amount of rain that fell, the ride down from Leith Hill would have been like riding down a very steep river. Which of course means the route was shorter by some 14 miles. So, on the train ride home from Waterloo to Woking Rob, Ian and Jonathan decided that they could not short change your donations. You’d paid for 100 miles so you we’re going to get 100 miles. On disembarking the train from Woking they took a long loop home to complete the 100 miles thus, we think, doing your donations proud

So far they have raised £1696.43 in aid of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This is a little known charity in the UK but it does wonderful work funding type 1 diabetes research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes and its complications.

Great Effort Guys!
