At Accountex 2019 we caught up with our CEO Rob Ellis. He spoke about the company’s focus on developing a robust solution with outstanding support has been at the core of our mission from day one.
We took some time with Rob at Accountex 2019 to find out more about the core values that drive BTCSoftware.
A challenge from an accountant in practice
Ian Katté was an accountant in practice when he challenged Rob to create a software solution that was robust, reliable, and designed for practices. Since then, BTCSoftware has continued to put the needs and feedback of customers at the heart of its development strategy. Rob said:
“One of the features that customers like best is the direct line of engagement they have with the development team. So, we have a dedicated email address that goes straight to the development team so any customer can suggest anything they’d like to see in the software. More often than not, they get built in.”
Last year, BTCSoftware won three AccountingExcellence awards and Rob puts this success down to the quality of the support team. From trial through to data migration and answering any questions a customer has, BTCSoftware customers regularly feed-back that the support is an outstanding feature.
Rob also talked about HMRC’s mandation of Making Tax Digital for VAT:
“There’s a big drive at HMRC for Making Tax Digital. At BTCSoftware, we’ve launched BTCHub, our new online platform for Making Tax Digital. It allows both practitioners and VAT payers to file their own VAT returns using the new HMRC APIs.”

A Solution that grows with you
At BTCSoftware, we are proud of the software and support we offer to accountants at all stages of their practice journey. We offer support from trial through migration and beyond.
“From the moment a customer downloads a free trial of our software they’re treated as if they are a paying customer,” said Rob. “The support team is available on hand for them, as are the training team and the sales team to guide them through those early days. Once they decide to buy the software, we then take them through the data migration process and help with any initial questions.”
Keeping up with Taxation and Compliance
With Making Tax Digital launching for VAT this year, we have developed our spreadsheet-friendly software for Making Tax Digital for VAT. Our online platform, BTCHub, allows accountants to continue to maintain their current spreadsheet formats and transmit the data in a compliant manner to HMRC.
